The Making of a Marine
Presented by Corporal Nathaniel Myles in honor of Veterans’ Day 2009

This workshop is targeted at high school students and designed to give them first-hand knowledge about serving our country and the benefits of doing so.
Marine Corps Veteran, Cpl. Myles, led an open dialogue including the following topics:
- The events and motivators that led him to joining the Marine Corps
- His experiences while deployed overseas (after serving two tours in Iraq)
- Several pictures illustrating his military career was shared
- The U.S. benefits given to a Marine Veteran
- His plans after college and his career working with the Department of Homeland Security.
About Corporal Nathaniel Myles
Raised on the Westside of Chicago, in the Austin Community, Cpl. Myles attended Lucy Flower Vocational High School and Richard J. Daley College. As a full-time student at Governors State University and a Contractor for the Dept. of Homeland Security, Cpl. Myles is an active member of the Salem Baptist Church of Chicago Youth Ministry.
While serving in the Marine Corps, Cpl. Myles served two tours in Iraq as an infantryman and a field radio operator. He is looking forward to a career with the Chicago Police Department.
